The CAT-CLAW has been designed from the drawing board that was almost abandoned due to design and material requirements. On the 6th attempt we had perfected what is now seen as the CAT-CLAW!

The CAT-CLAW swivel is a world first for the catfish scene. Designed by CAT-TEX on the latest CAD design software and 3D printed to scale to then prototypes and then into production. We can ensure you that this is no cheap imitation and built by CAT-TEX exclusively.

Unlike the carp rig, the CAT-CLAW swivel has been built with 100% stainless steel and with an innovative hook locking design to accommodate the NAMAZU – LONG SHANK. It is Super strong and the smoothest rotating 360⁰ range of motion rig on the market that has been designed to fit the size of the legendary NAMAZU – LONG SHANK hooks in 3/0 & 4/0. Due to this, the NAMAZU hook can search out for the most powerful hook hold possible and further back to not only maximize hook up rate but also increase it!

All CAT-CLAW hook sections come ready to use straight from the packet in a pack of 3. fitted with a bait ring, bait stopper and the incredibility abrasion resistant sticky shrink tube by CAT-TEX along with a hook point protector to save the extremely Sharpe NAMAZU – LONG SHANK hook point. 

How the CAT-CLAW works.

With the over-sized added ring the CAT-CLAW plays a very different mechanical advantage compared to how the smaller inferior carp fishing rig works. As the bait is within the catfishes mouth and the mouth closes and the catfish moves away, the ring of the CAT-CLAW is then pulled forwards into the folds on the mouth. As the ring is then “posted” into theses folds of the mouth, the CAT-CLAW still continues a 360 degree rotation allowing it to hook into at least 1 inch further back to not only ensure a stronger hook hold but also increasing your hooking ratio meaning more fish on the bank!

When and how to use the CAT-CLAW.

We have found the most optimal way to present the CAT-CLAW is to use this with a pop-up and present it over a bed of pellets. As the catfish engulfs the pellets the CAT-CLAW gets sucked up and taken much further into the mouth compared to a standard bottom bait. However the CAT-CLAW can still be used with a bottom bait if the angler wishes to. To add a the pop-up all you need to do is push a baiting needle into your chosen bait and fit this to the attached bait ring with monofilament or bait floss.
